Where I’d start: Government backed stop loss/pooling insurance for claims over 100k on all healthcare plans.
Our group plan the 1% of people needing 100k+ are 25% of total costs.
This would lower premiums, take care of the sickest Americans and allow employers to put money into salaries instead.

So call their bluff more. Require Medical Loss ratio change from 80/85% for small/large group to 85/90%, along with a max markup or cap on Rx costs.

The only reason Florida is not under $10 is because of a citizen led constitutional amendment passed in 2020, with just over the 60% of voters needed to pass it.
It started by raising it to $10 in 2021.
It will be raised to $14 at the end of Sept this year, and finish at $15 in Sept 2026.

The better question would be ‘What is the media doing to get their out to low information voters?’ Are they on YouTube, saturating social media, running targeted online ad campaigns, collaborating with local influencers to gain online traction, etc.

Wouldn’t make more sense to measure trade per capita? Canada has 12% of US population. It makes no sense to expect a balanced trade with so many fewer consumers. Roughing out data, I only show 9 countries with a per capita trade deficit, led by China, while Canada is top 10 surplus per capita.

Mark I’m on our insurance cmte. Our union works w/ school district (~5k empl) to do the best we can. We have low funding for schools & high medical costs. 12 month supply of some Rx cost more than the salaries for some employees. It’s not necessarily union vs employer, it’s us vs the system.
