[Jonas] Vingegaard crashed at Paris-Nice. He did not compete for the next two months after suffering a #concussion, criticising the race doctors for not providing a head injury assessment after he fell, and allowing him to complete the remaining 84km of the stage.

A year on from Muriel Furrer’s death, is cycling’s attitude to safety shifting?
A sport that witnesses death too often needs change. There is no shortage of ideas but right now there is a lack of consensus

Dr Daniel Daneshvar, chief of brain injury rehabilitation and associate professor at Harvard University, said even a low-stage diagnosis of #CTE could be responsible for "behavioural changes and impulse control problems", which often progressed with age.

"Yet for all the progress [on concussion] made by many sports in recent years, it feels like we still have not fully grasped the understanding of CTE – or maybe we don’t want to."

I’ve seen the brain damage contact sports can cause – we all need to take concussion and CTE more seriously
If more isn’t done to combat concussion and chronic traumatic encephalopathy, more families will be grieving tragic deaths.
