When I bought this I hadn't seen or known of the series, only the film. It was about 20 years before i finally saw the series. It's the most confused I've ever been by a tie-in book.

If I may be allowed a personal moment, today is my son's 29th birthday. He has been in Japan for nearly 5 years and I miss him every day. I am also very proud of him every day.

Aside -- one of the best examples of getting Holmes and Watson exactly right in the casting is Vasily Livanov and Vitaly Solomin in a terrific series of six Russian films from the 1980s, which turn up on ebay occasionally.
