I’m guessing Nmecha didn’t replace DCL because Farke was worried that he wouldn’t be able to keep the ball in the final third. James for Aaronson was fine. Longstaff was logical, although I felt he looked rusty. Bringing on an additional sub like Bijol for 5mins would have stilted Forest’s momentum.

My first job on Fleet St was colouring in the cartoonist’s artwork which was also faxed in. I sat there with a box of Caran D’Ache pencils and shaded up the jagged black lines where the fax had juddered.

As soon as the triple subs came on and the formation shifted we looked much better, but it was too late. Bringing Tanaka on earlier didn’t feel right at the time as we were under so much pressure. Love him but feel Longstaff would be the better option.
