What on earth is this VAR doing? Failed to overturn the first penalty and tried to give a second when there was already a handball AND no contact with swinging leg. Sounds pretty corrupt to me #marcom

This is way overblown. Liverpool had like 4/5 Brazilians who were baptising each others children under klopp but still had some horror seasons. Brazil 2002 thanked Jesus but in 2006 many of the same players flopped. Journalists often have too much time on their hands to think of hypotheses

The flaws in build up are not gonna go away. Konate and Bradley haven’t really got it in them to have 3 good games in a row. It is what it is. What’s worse is when Kerkez is on the pitch because he literally can’t do anything right. Salah no longer has pace over the top. Certain things can’t change

What about a 10 second rule from when the player first has access to picking up the ball? Football is turning into “death by a 1000 set pieces”

Is it conceivable that a team with terrible underlying numbers like Liverpool can turn those around mid season ? Or does it hardly ever happen?

Their body shape is so bad when receiving the ball. It’s inviting Chelsea to press and intercept on the second touch. I guess they are second guessing themselves as they don’t entirely know what they’re doing

I’m not Man Utd fan but that’s such a red card. Are the refs confusing DOGSO with “would it have been a definite goal? “

Neither team was really “pressing”. Liverpools back line had loads of the ball (van dijk most touches) but they have a long standing problem progressing the ball in the first phase and it’s worse after Trent left. Usually VVD then has to hit a long ball. League cup final same problem

Liv had physically weak ball carriers in wirtz/mac and were petrified of arsenals physicality so no risks in the 1st half with the ball and didn’t press arsenal without the ball. As soon as jones was on for Mac the game changed cos of his ball carrying.

No one said that after the Man Utd game . Same approach to both games but when you score first from a set piece then narrative is different. It’s the same game model every time

…. give the opposition the thing they most want to do and probably the thing they most train to do because their skill set is probably skewed towards it. The van Dijk vs sissokho and Son, u never see that % play usually where a CB just says go on then shoot with ur left but you ain’t passing to Son

I partly agree. But I would say salah now very rarely scores the “cut in and curl with his left foot” against the top teams. They crowd that space and in my opinion he doesn’t then chop back on his right foot enough (he did against F mendy last season and got a pen) . Rule no1 for me is don’t …..

Obviously I’m no expert, but you can’t say that wasn’t a sh**show in how to defend wide areas. Farke can’t coach a low possession side. I never get why coaches that have been at sides a long time can’t coach more than one model

It literally just happened again with Dowman, the recovering defender sprints back and overshoots allowing dowman to get it on his left and come inside and shoot. It’s so basic I don’t get why it isn’t rule no1 of defending against an inverted winger

I meant more the DM’s coming across. The last thing the gyokeres wants to do is take it to the touchline and clip and cross with his left foot. Saka is more dynamic so he can go on the outside but gyokeres is a bull in a china shop. All he was thinking there was “need my 1st goal get a shot off”

There is something weird going on in La liga though. Every team is conceding more than 1 xg per game. Bilbao’s defensive number have air in them. Real and Barca aren’t good defensively either. All the Spanish teams look vulnerable on the break too. Any explanation?

Surely that’s rule no 1 that a manager implements. Don’t do sneaky stuff like pinch a goal on the line in case you’re offside. Also, let the designated penalty taker take the pen. Yet we see players just do what they want 🤷

It’s fundamentally floored that the ref has to have to a strong opinion. Why can’t the ref say I’m not sure about that one? Either way, the call tonight is just plain rank wrong and is an example of refs w*nking each other off all week. Refs shouldn’t be friends, it’s automatically fraudulent

His legs had completely gone to jelly so he just concentrated on placing it in the corner. It’s not his fault, he’s been the same since day one. He doesn’t have the mental profile to handle the pressure at a top club. It’s Liverpool’s fault for keeping him so long.

A shirt pull by MLS would’ve been automatic yellow for stopping a promising attack. But what happened was he grazed his studs on a player moving at full speed’s lower shin then ankle. I’m not saying it’s a defo red but it’s not a run of the mill trip
