Agreed. Playing in and winning playoff games and series is clearly profitable. It’s weird like 1/3 of the teams are happy to be tomato cans.

That link says they are assessed at 110%, 50%, then an extra 12%, 45% and 60% for each $20M over the tax limit. So Tucker’s $60M is really more like $126M. Wild.

That’s a really good question. Let me see if I can find an article explaining it. But the 39% number is within the game. So Springer’s homer raised the Jays’ changes of winning the game up to 77% from 42%. I remember a really good article I think on bbref that explains it well.

Took me a while to find it but 2014. Jays played 29 innings at home vs Detroit, 10 on Saturday, 19 on Sunday then flew out to Seattle and lost 11-1, then 6-3 then 2-0.

Jays scored 3, 4, 3 vs Seattle in Toronto in April when they were still kind of figuring things out and they scored 6, 6, 9 at the beginning of May, to bring them up to .500 at the end of that series. Not sure if kryptonite is the word you’re looking for.

Totally agree, a run saved is worth the same as a run scored as long as you’re not scoring 0 runs.

You can change up the roster between rounds without needing to replace injured players but within the round, only injury replacements are possible. And the injured player isn’t available for the next round.

As a former umpire, I would have to strip down to get the gear on and I wore lycra long johns and different pants and that would accommodate the shin guards. Maybe not a 20 min endeavour but not 5 mins either especially if I want to be comfortable for a whole game with no fabric bunching, etc
