Re-sharing a guide I published last year. It offers practical and granular suggestions for victim-survivors of image-based abuse, especially those in the global majority world, to remove the violative content while safeguarding their privacy and identity online.

Indian Matryoshka. Made in Channapatna.
This image shows a collection of decorative items arranged on a shelf. The prominent feature is a set of five Russian nesting dolls, also known as Matryoshka dolls, graduating in size. Each doll is painted with a green base color and features a woman's face with rosy cheeks, dark hair, and a patterned scarf on top of the head. The dolls also have painted blue clothing with floral patterns and red accents. To the right of the dolls is a wooden horse figure, and to the left, several other decorated objects, including a green box with a woven pattern and a fan. The background features a patterned wall covering.

I never pass an opportunity to have beyaynetu and injera. And it's so similar to Indian food! 😋

I met a German man at a conference in Bangalore last month. I was impressed by his knowledge and appropriate usage of Indian swear words. People have their ways of assimilation.

Populist opportunists leverage intentionally visceral narratives to draw and embolden followers, establish norms, draw boundaries, and define outgroups.

Jackfruit ghee roast sounds like nirvana.

I wouldn't even try such "fusion".

My Airbnb host who is a Kannadiga has a cute dog named Gabbar Singh and that is how national integration happens.

Ghee roast has its connoisseurs but I wasn't really expecting this.

My hotel has a small bookshelf. I picked this up although I have read and watched this a few times. In English, Bangla, and Hindi.
The image shows the cover of a book. The background is a warm, reddish-brown hue. Silhouetted figures are depicted across the cover, appearing as dark shapes against the background. Three figures are prominently visible, standing side-by-side and facing to the right, with their heads and bodies obscured by long, flowing drapery. The text on the cover reads: "RABINDRANATH / TAGORE / chokher bali". Below this, in smaller text, it states: "Translated by Sukhendu Ray". A small red logo resembling a stylized bird is located in the bottom right corner of the cover.

I don't have the spoons to add alt text. If you follow me on Mastodon, all these images are posted there along with the alt text.

More boats and clam shells. And a river island. It only looks pleasant. It is hot and humid, and the whole place stinks because of fish farming.

Backwaters. Clam, oyster and fish farming. An island separates the river and the sky.

📣 Germany's close to reversing its opposition to mass surveillance & private message scanning, & backing the Chat Control bill. This could end private comms-& Signal-in the EU.

Time's short and they're counting on obscurity: please let German politicians know how horrifying their reversal would be.

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...

Weddings of socially conscious persons are the best. I got a souvenir bag containing products made by a local women's cooperative in Kundapura. The best tapioca chips I've ever eaten in my life, a pack of papad, kokum squash, mango pickle, cold-pressed coconut oil, bars of peanut brittle & more. 🤤

I had never thought I'd see a snuff shop in my life. These died out long ago even in the towns in India. This store was established in 1921.
This image shows the storefront of a business called Naganna Snuff. A large, rectangular sign hangs above the entrance, with a cream-colored background and dark lettering. The sign prominently displays the text “NAGANNA SNUFF” in capital letters, along with the text “1921-2021”.  To the left of the main text, in the Kannada script, is the text displaying the same name“നാഗന്നാ സ്നൂഫ്”. The entrance itself is open, revealing a dimly lit interior with shelves and products visible inside.

They grow clams and oysters here in Kundapura on the Panchgangavali river. In the background is an island.

One never knows what one will find. This is why I like roaming through bazaars. There are real rifles inside wrapped in plastic. This shop was set up in 1958. It's next to the OG Shetty's lunch home, set up in 1956. (Photo from Kundapura, India.)
This is a photograph of the exterior of a small shop. A signboard outside the shop reads, "Gun powder shop. 1958. License Bhandary Padmanabha Shanbag." There is an illustration of a rifle and some text in Kannada on the signboard. One can see the old wooden door of the shop, a staircase and some rifles.

Wondering whether "neurodiversity-friendly Indian wedding planners" is a viable business idea.

Lower noise levels and softer lights as opposed to band baaja baarat and glaring lights.
