Just wrapped up a hearing with CDOT on traffic crashes. Some key data points I want to share:

🚗 Traffic fatalities down 30% from the 2021 peak
🏥 Chicago experienced the lowest number of serious injury crashes on record since 2012
🚦 85% of fatal crashes involved reckless driving

Today marks the start of #WeekWithoutDriving and the forecast looks great for walking, biking, & public transit!

WWD is a chance to challenge yourself to cut back on vehicle trips and try other ways of getting around.

Let’s build communities that are inclusive and accessible for everyone.

While the Northwest Side Preservation Ordinance aims to slow gentrification by giving tenants a “right of first refusal” and discouraging development that decreases density, a pair of aldermen are opting out.

Yes! Riders/drivers will be directed to a side street for pick-up/drop-off
aldermanlaspata.bsky.social
Starting this weekend, rideshares/taxis will no longer be allowed to pick-up/drop-off passengers on Milwaukee Ave between California & Sacramento from 7pm–4am on Fridays & Saturdays. This change is in response to increasingly dangerous traffic patterns on this busy corridor.
