We finally got Wawa here in Florida and they don’t have hotdogs. I like to think this is why they’re not number one.

Photo of a Kansas City Chiefs press conference with Andy Reid, Travis Kelce, and Patrick Mahomes. Reid is wearing a gray suit and red tie with a lapel pin. Kelce is wearing a camp-style short-sleeved shirt with a bird print, along with a suede cap, and Mahomes is wearing a white collared shirt, a pink checkered double-breasted vest, and a pale pink tie.

We matched on Votto and Bench. On Mastodon I do shoutouts to alternate choices. Today’s:

Red shoutouts: Jose Rijo, Ken Griffey Sr., Ernie Lombardi, Frank McCormick, Paul O’Neill, Hal Morris, Hal McRae, Hal Chase, & Lee May.

Non-Red: legendary Chicago Bears Hall of Famer George Halas!

Grew up in central Florida. I’ve been to games for the following:

Orlando Americans, AFA, 1981
Orlando Renegades, USFL, 1985
Orlando Thunder, WLAF, 1991
Florida Tuskers, UFL, 2009
Orlando Apollos, AAF, 2019

This new UFL also announced a team in Orlando, so I’ll be adding to this list. Excited!

We matched on Old Hoss! I was doing a B&W thing with Bug & Hod, but damn the S. Larkin & Mario Soto pairing is great.

Was the first one Michael Conforto’s mom?

Just learned (relearned?) that there is a 1990 set of Professional Bowlers Association cards from “Kingpins.” Bunch of unopened packs my brother found and gave me (he doesn’t collect).

The set includes a card for Guppy Troup. The movie “Kingpin” didn’t come out until 1996. Amazing!

Photo of 1990 Kingpin card for Guppy Troup. He looks like a 1970s swinger refugee with chains and inside sunglasses, but with a polo shirt. His hair anticipates the Bill Murray character from the movie Kingpin. It is of its time, but more so.

Hey hobby fam! Time for another Sunday #giveaway thread!

If you could receive one card from another #thehobby fam member, what would it be?

Keep requested cards under $30 in value. Please post cards you can give, & RT to share with others. #cardsky #generosity #cards4free

Matched on Luque and we both had Concepcion & Rijo. Geronimo is a great pick.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Made a mess of mine by mistaking which square I was in. I assure you that I knew Johnny Bench was never a Cub.

We were both doing catcher things—matched on Bench and Bo Diaz.

Asked the LLM if WAR is useful for Hall of Fame ballots. It insisted WAR was good for “absolutely nothing!” Then insisted on saying it again.

Many thanks to @jaywigley.bsky.social for these 1984 Topps—getting closer to finishing the set.

Also thanks as always to @ngtcollectibles.bsky.social for hosting the Sunday Car Swap. If you collect, definitely check it out—great group of collectors!

They’re absolutely gonna get that beer to Atlanta in 28 hours.

Oh gods. My English class actually read that in 8th grade. It was the entire Spring semester!

Fall semester included The Maltese Falcon, which was a lot more fun! Mr. Arnold did a great Peter Lorre impression. Also amazing for teaching things like foreshadowing, characterization, and motifs.

We matched on Bip and both had Bret Boone. Yonder is a nice pick.

“Wait ‘til next year!”

Very deep cut, but Rueben (played by Bo) on the late 1980s sitcom “Duet” is my favorite.

“We told you not to let him eat Chinese food! The MSG always gives him a headache.”

“But, he was so good with the chopsticks!”

I picked up the first in the series a couple weeks ago on a whim ($2 at the local library sale room). Glad to hear this recommendation and will move it higher in the to-be-read pile.
