Evolution looked really cool, but I never got a chance to watch it. No cable.

If you like the school stories, check out Chris Claremont's New Mutant run from the eighties. The dialogue's a bit dated, but the plots and characters are great. Especially after Bill Sienkiewicz comes on as artist.

I really must do that sometime. I loved Elantris and the Mistborn trilogy. (I haven't read the latter books in that series yet, either.)

I can't say he's my favourite ever, but he's certainly the best new X-men character in 20 years, imo.

For that matter, Rich and Rocket are better tacticians, from what I've seen. Maybe Sif, too.
