For the authors 14 days was defined as a relocation. Which is, for many the length of a good holiday. There is no sense whether this increased walkability is durable. The participants moving to New York would be in the lower half of the residents of New York who walk between 6-10k steps a day.

In this graph the bands represent people moving to higher, the same or lower walkability areas. At 8k steps a day, more people had moved to a lower walkability environment. i.e. people are walking more in less walkable environments. 🧵

The classic example is when Chat would say strawberry had 2 ‘r’s in it (since been fixed). Imagine a subject you aren’t an expert in, like medicine, you would need a doctorate to understand the errors. Try it with things you know well, ask questions you think are hard. It falls flat on its face.

But the study you cite does not say that. In fact it says the opposite. If anything it emphasises that hormone suppression therapy is imperfect and can affect people differently. What this fails to capture is power to weight ratio...

In the cold logic of good guy vs bad guy, the one with the bigger gun wins. The world is obviously more complicated than that. If you read this extract, foreign aid is an example of soft power. Soft power stops us from going to war. Defence budgets don't. Source: www.researchgate.net/publication/...

Indeed. Not only does Denmark (out of EU) but also France and Germany start vaccinating earlier than the UK, they're also vaccinating on average a higher percentage of their population. Spikes need to be high and narrow. UK's first peak is fat and wide, diminishing its effectiveness.

It doesn't know how to spell strawberry. But in other news, sometimes when your main language isn't English the nuance of spelling can pass you by.

Here's an article from this year explaining some of the trouble with lifestyle www.cell.com/cell-metabol.... It's not that simple, you have to also account for the availability of healthy food, as you see in the second picture of places with food insecurity. There's a lot.

www.ft.com/content/c361... Millennials are the first and only generation to shift more left wing as they age. Why? We saw all the financial crashes, recession. We were pre digital-age, pre information age, pre social-media. We saw the world before climate breakdown. We know what good looks like.

Grifters still need to grift. By the very basic definition of the word real, if someone lies it’s not.

The pseudeoscience grifting in fitness and health is quite bizarre. Here is an extract of LeBron Jame's 'biohacking' diet. For some reason he forgoes gluten in the morning, but adds it back in for lunch and dinner. Go gluten-free or don't, you simply can't have it both ways.

Nature is a balm for body and mind. Just a little moment each day observing, and really observing nature can do a lot of good. No need to jump in freezing water or walk barefoot. Just looking is all you really need to do.
