Recently had a few hours in Las Vegas and was surprised by how NOTHING was cheap. Don't think I'm naive about it. Frustrating stuff here from CJ and State. Rather obviously going to be hot here. Doesn't seem to have a plan for it. 0 sight adjustments from the WRs. Probably just need to stand in and hit Joly. Not how you process as a hot QB.

NC State's defense is outside the top 100 in yards per play. It's done some things well as it breaks in a new scheme, but needs to improve its route distribution, pass rush, and tackling. Jump in the film room with us and see what's going on.

Yep. 3rd and 1s. Many TEs and you load the box defensively, get more vertical in the gaps because you can't allow a yard. Only takes one mistake then.

There is definitely a lack of talent. This style of defense demands a type of talent that's a little harder to find with all the hybrid players. You could become more static to alleviate that, but then you become predictable, and Im not sure those are the areas where the talent is missing most.

State's route distribution is poor. They made some decent adjustments to more post closed structures against Wake, but Ashford made that defense look good by being terrible. It's been like this for 4 games now.

I think it's partially that. This defense doesnt really have the guys to be anything other than mid. But there are fixable things here also, and we're well below mid right now.

You're going to get eaten alive if you let a good QB stand still and progress through a zone, especially a zone that doesnt gain enough depth, allows big windows to develop, doesn't run with wheel routes, etc.
