Winterset - an easy drive from Des Moines is home to John Wayne, a historic and vibrant town square, and surrounded by beautiful rolling country side featuring the famous Bridges of Madison County

Fairfield - a place unlike any other in the entire Midwest really, is home to Maharishi University. Where else can you find transcendental meditation followers interspersed with truck driving farmers. It's a bit of a hippie commune gone even weirder.

McGregor, found also in NE Iowa along the Mississippi River, offers beautiful bluffs overlooking the river, lots of historic and vintage shopping, and amazing fall colors.

Decorah is nestled into my favorite part of the state: the limestone bluff speckled driftless area found in far NE Iowa. Home to Luther college it has an arts and dining scene that punches far above it's weight and is home to the Norwegian American Museum.

Clear Lake is situated on one of Iowa's few natural lakes and is a great place for summer recreation on the water. It's home to the Surf Ballroom, which hosted the final concert performed by Buddy Holly before his tragic death, the day the music died.

I realize it’s probably a non starter but what’s the discourse like around property tax exemptions for non-profits? Seems like ultimately bad policy but not even sure where reforms would need to happen

Here is $340,000 gone because the postal service decides to purchase its building in Des Moines.

I’m trying to take a photo showing how bad the lighting is but the camera is correcting for it. Damn you technology!

Oh eff off Des Moines! Now a week later and I still can't get this cleared because there's more snow on the way.

Needs more parking

I submitted this path to the beg button on city property being unclear on the city app and the response was the deadline to clear isn’t up yet so ticket closed. Not great! 🫠

5) But perhaps the most impactful change will be to the level of service on weekends. Service levels (including 15 minute frequencies) will stay the same on weekends whereas 40 minute is the best we have on the existing network.

4) The new network roughly quadruples the number of lines that see 15 minute frequency, replaces express routes with fixed route service into the suburbs, and eliminates other infrequent routes. Also added is a new orbital route that will allow for many more transfers outside of the central station
December 2, 2025 at 8:59 PM
3) The old network was based on a commuter style hub and spoke with almost all lines terminating at a central station. Service levels were geared towards weekday service and peak frequencies during typical commute times. Only a small stretch of the network had 15 min frequency or better (in red)

The pre-dotcom crash era sure was a time to behold

One thing I will miss about Reimagine DART is these brick bus stops in Sherman Hill won’t be in use anymore. They’re so pretty 🧱
