Mike Lee should resign. For his recent comments and so many other things he should resign. He’s not going to, but he should resign.

Utah deserves better than Mike Lee.

This is crazy and should worry anyone who lives in Utah.

Utah Republicans who win at convention have a consistent track record of losing to and being more ideologically extreme than candidates who gather signatures.

Utah GOP will consider kicking signature-gathering candidates out of the party

Well folks, looks like Mike Johnson is going to get another crack at being Speaker of the House.

Any bets on how well he’ll be able get his party to work together and get down to governing? The last two years haven’t exactly been a ringing endorsement…

So, first round of votes for Speaker of the House are in!

216 votes for Mike Johnson (R)
215 votes for Hakeem Jeffries (D)
3 votes for others

Now to see if Johnson can win over at least two of the three Republicans who didn’t vote for him in the first round or if further shenanigans will ensue

Voting is about to begin for Speaker of the House and Mike Johnson is in a fight to retain his position. Seems like the choosing a Speaker is going to be a good litmus test of how much dysfunction we can expect in the upcoming Congress.

Nice to see the Republican choke hold on Utah County slowly starting to ease. Still lots of work to be done but these shifts are certainly encouraging!

And here are Utah County city-level 2024 election results plus swings since 2020 & 2012.

2020-24: All cities swung from +0 to D +6 except for Vineyard, the only city to really shift right (R +6), a bit of headscratcher given 2012-2022 trends there.

2012-24: Provo has swung D +53, most of any city.
