my #CopernicAffair co-host Dana Ballout and I are on Question Everything this week with @brihreed.bsky.social talking about the series and some of the more tricky editorial decisions along the way. listen where you get podcasts (then go back and listen to the rest of QE's work - it's a great show)
When should reporters say what they think? It's a personal and often fraught decision.

On Question Everything, I talk to a reporter who was all set to include her personal take in a recent story. And then, just before the story was about to air, cut it.

A great example of what I think makes our podcast so special. My co-host Michael Safi takes a trip through the new Syria - it's funny, moving, sad and scary... and illuminating throughout. Production by @alexatack.bsky.social & sound by @tomglasser.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/news/audio/2...

Luckily for us — and thanks to Amazon Music Canada — The Copernic Affair got to grace the Toronto skyline this past week.

I've had the honor & pleasure of working with this team on this new series for the past year. It's a new genre of storytelling for me. I've learned tons & have new-found respect for the rigor & determination of investigative journalism. Seems obvious, but I've never been up close quite like this.
The Copernic Affair is Canadaland's newest investigative series.

Reporters Dana Ballout (Wall St Journal, Al Jazeera English, This American Life) & Alex Atack spent a year investigating the 1980 bombing and the man convicted for it: Ottawa professor Hassan Diab.
