But this could work long term. If every car on the road monitors every other car, and if any car would communicate their immediate travel plans to incoming traffic, it would remove the risk of accidents almost completely. You could even remove lanes and speed limits at that point.

It's probably because the only concerning thing in that list is the environmental impact, which depending on how fast they can build nuclear reactors, would not be a problem in the future. The harm to jobs part is just them falling for Luddite textbook propaganda. Only horses lose jobs to new tech.
