What about the Epstein files?
alexcartaz.bsky.social
I don’t think any demographic from old twitter has aged worse than venture capitalists
alexcartaz.bsky.social
Can SNL morally ether this dipshit?

To be clear, saying you're going to "avoid politics" is an INCREDIBLY political statement, especially in an age of fascism.
alexcartaz.bsky.social
Everything is such a disappointment
alexcartaz.bsky.social
Imagine being a venture capitalist investor and wildly active power user of Twitter and going silent on the moral imperative of its successor and the opportunities it would unlock for users
alexcartaz.bsky.social
It’s 100% dark patterns

Imagine Sam Altman having the user’s best interest at heart

Oh you sweet summer child

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.

AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

I think it’s bc nothing is just quite compelling enough (but it’s not far off)

I just miss old twitter and there was no reason for it to end other than Elon buying it (and them letting him)

So I miss that, and assume most of the other active folks do to, so I thought ppl would be trying to find/help create that replacement but that doesn’t seem to be the prevailing sentiment

I’m just more curious why so many of the interesting tech ppl I used to enjoy following are just absent from the bsky experience
alexcartaz.bsky.social
No one on tech twitter was too busy to not post for a month, including Roy. That means you’re not active
alexcartaz.bsky.social
Still just shaking my head and laughing to myself that Nikita Bier is the X head of product

I swear to god like half of tech was just craven, amoral, self interested shells of humans cos playing as reasonable ppl on old twitter
alexcartaz.bsky.social
Wild how reliably MIA all pre-Elon tech twitter ppl are from bsky
alexcartaz.bsky.social
Bro are you living in 2017 or 2025
alexcartaz.bsky.social
Def several moral orders of magnitude worse than Kim Kardashian pretending she used one of worst podcast apps I’ve ever seen (and that’s saying something)

@chancethelawyer.bsky.social I think this might have been before your Twitter time but there was a short glorious period where the actual voice actor for Zapp Branigann was recording audio over user generated memes like this (or smtg v similar, related to mocking Trump I think)

The cool thing ab writing a thread while in bed before you wake up and can only half see your screen are endless typos. But bsky doesn’t have edit or drafts or delete all and push the entire thread back into compose cc @internet.bsky.social

Just stumbled across this and it was like talking a walk down memory lane

When I first fell in love w podcasts circa 2009-2013 npr shows played a much larger role in my listening, Radiolab being the most prominent

There have been a ton of 20th anniversary "best of" podcast lists lately, and it has started to feel a bit like an obituary for an industry.

There’s still a chance that something like this could thrive within the bsky ecosystem, but right now there aren’t nearly enough prominent active users to really make it work
alexcartaz.bsky.social
What if your pod app gave you a mechanism to follow hosts, guests, or potentially even talked ab individuals on your social interest graph of choice

Peak podcast golden area failed with old school twitter not making a podcast app

Twitter Should Make a Podcast App
Podcasts are broken, Twitter is only just beginning to solve its business problems, and I couldn’t be more bullish on both. For starters…
medium.com

and some pods are altogether just focused on talking ab books they think are great (or terrible but that’s diff)

Imagine if you podcast saved the book recs from pods you liked and gave you 1-click options to buy the audio, e-book, or physical versions
alexcartaz.bsky.social
Podcast discovery is still broken / non-existent and we haven’t yet been able to see any of the cool downstream innovations that are possible if it has been fixed

E.g. lots of great authors go on pods to talk ab a book when they write a new one…
