Scan the QR code on the bottom left to see if you're eligible and learn more
A pink flyer with a darker outline of a uterus and fallopian tubes that says "We need your help investigating menstrual product use and the vaginal microbiome."
Why: Researchers from Duke University are conducting a study investigating if menstrual products advertised as scented or for odor control affect the vaginal microbiome compared to unscented menstrual products.
How: If you agree to participate you will be asked to: (each of the bullet points is shaped like a tampon)
Self-collect vaginal swabs during 4 menstrual cycles for microbiome assessment.
Complete a short questionnaire each cycle.
Complete a demographic and short health history questionnaire.
Use study-provided menstrual products during 2 menstrual cycles
(one cycle you will use scented/odor control products and one cycle you will use unscented products).
Who: Up to 50 of individuals aged 18-40 years who have regular menstrual cycles (approximately every 4 weeks) that last at least 3 days, can safely use tampons, do not have allergies/hypersensitivity to fragrances, are not or do not plan to become pregnant over the study period will take part in this study, and have not given birth in the past 12 months.
