Just a left-wing Brit talking politics
Despite The Telegraph clearly disliking it, this is a good (and necessary) policy.

Climate change is happening, and we need to do something to prevent, or at least slow, it.

This headline is a tad ridiculous.

The article then says that “Were these figures to be replicated across the country at a general election, with every constituency behaving the same way”

But when does every constituency behave the same?

It’s a big assumption to make, just for a better headline.

Looks like it’s going well then.

The good news is that this demonstrates many people do not trust Reform - which might slow their growth.

Of course, these people might just be the ones who voted against Reform, the Reform voters may think it’s going great.

This is how much the government says the NHS will save by sending appointment reminders digitally.

£200 million.

In terms of government spending, it’s not as big as it sounds, but it’s a lot to be spending on some letters.

Why hasn’t this been done sooner?

The Telegraph being optimistic as always.

There is one, very simple, reason that the NHS is crumbling.

A lack of investment.

Started my Substack only 3 weeks ago, but I've already reached 100 subscribers!

Can't wait to see where this journey takes me.

Just so you know: you can actually hide verification badges if you aren't a fan.
Just head to settings, then moderation.

How anyone thinks Farage wants to improve the country I will never understand.

I'm not really sure this is news...

From the article:
"Responding to a comment from Jaguar Land Rover CEO Adrian Mardell about how the company had cleared £5bn worth of debt in 31 months, the chancellor said, “That’d be nice.”"

This might be the best headline I’ve ever read

People are talking about Tesla’s 13% decline in sales, but I don’t think it’s as big a deal as people think.

This is Tesla’s share price today, currently at an almost 5% increase. Clearly investors were expecting much worse sales figures.

Well that’s certainly a take

So what exactly did crash the economy?

Finally at the end: he’s right that it won’t be perfect, but I think it will also be worse than it is currently.

I find it odd how many platforms are currently making their product worse. I would’ve thought that is bad for business…

Lost me at “Work with President Trump”.

I thought Republicans didn’t want the government to interfere with private companies or the economy, so why do they now want to work together?

Also a little ironic as Trump (& definitely Musk) is the definition of government overreach and censorship.

I didn’t know anyone thought there was bias, but if they did, I don’t think they would want the moderation to be moved from one party stronghold to another. Unless of course, they want it biased in their favour.

I don’t know why political content was ever limited, especially as Threads was meant to be a Twitter competitor. That being said, I actually like the ability to turn off political content, as many people aren’t interested and would prefer to use more reliable news sources.

As I said earlier, the platform should be responsible for taking down misinformation, and other policy-violating posts. I would rather some posts be taken down wrongly, than many posts be kept up that shouldn’t be.

Not sure exactly what the current restrictions are, but I imagine these changes will allow for more hate speech.

I actually quite like community notes, but I don’t think they should be a replacement for anything. People should be able to add context, but the platform should be responsible for removing misinformation.

Interesting phrasing to start with, sounds like he’s saying his platforms currently don’t have free expression.

As a Brit, I think we’re doing alright.

This is coming from the guy who bans people that disagree with him

For some unknown reason, Meta is now putting fake AI accounts on Instagram.

I thought platforms wanted to remove bots?
