I think the key issue here is "whose" interests is implicity alluded to? His, or pehaps the Telegraph's readership, but surely not mine. What baffles me is that as a (former) historian he knows his conception of the Nation is only one of many. Genuine lack of self awareness or editorial strategy?

@ebu.ch - since you say on your website you favour #transparency, is it possible to get a detailed breakdown of the absolute number of votes received for each entry in each country, and the average number of votes per entry per unique mobile number in each country?

Picking one coutry at random; Ireland had c.268,000 viewers for #eurovision final. Say 10% of them voted, 670 SIM cards (x20 votes) would do to get 50% of the votes costing **€1440** (2€/SIM and 0.15€/text). Not hard to imagine a country manipulating the result

A more interesting question would be can you plot the location of the centre point for an equal quadrant distribution for the last couple of centuries?
