Finally got back home to Shetland from the @greenparty.org.uk conference this morning.

The far right have been ascendant since the pandemic, but a new political movement is growing in the Greens that has the potential to change the country.

The political tide is turning.

Shetland Islands Council has backed a motion from Scottish Greens councillor @alexjarmitage.bsky.social to boycott Israel.

The islands join the Scottish Parliament and Edinburgh City Council, which voted for Green motions on boycotts last month.

London has some fantastic architecture but the Kings Cross station façade with its huge brick arches is one of my favourites.

Netanyahu claims to act on behalf of all Jews.

But Jews are NOT responsible for Israeli atrocities.

Netanyahu’s genocide has thrust Jewish folk into the spotlight against their will.

We must harden our resolve against antisemitism.

I am horrified to learn of the attack on the Peacehaven Mosque last night. My full solidarity and thoughts are with Muslim communities in Peacehaven and across the country.

The suspected arson attack comes just days after two people were killed in an appalling attack on a synagogue in Manchester as they attended Yom Kippur services. It also follows a spate of attacks on mosques across the country. It is no coincidence that this uptick in violence has increased as politicians of many stripes, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer, have dialled up divisive rhetoric, weaponising tragedy and pain for political gain.

The abhorrent hatred and spreading of fear cannot stand. I echo the sentiments of my colleague Zack Polanski last week that we must unite against hate and bring communities together.

We will continue to work with colleagues in Hackney, across London and across the country to find ways to build bridges and ensure every part of our community feels safe.

- Stop the over policing of black & minority folk

- Legalise & regulate all drugs

After an extremely uncomfortable 12hour overnight ferry journey from Shetland, I made it in one piece to Aberdeen, where I’m boarding the 0752 train south.

I’m bound for Bournemouth and the Green Party of England & Wales conference - the weekend the political tide starts to turn.
