It was great fun to be the official starter of the first ever Bulwell Santa Run at the weekend. Had a jog myself, bit rainy…

Huge thanks to Paul, Paul and the team for doing it.

Recently I popped into Trinity School in Aspley to talk to them about the importance of participating in our politics, and what my role is in our government. I was delighted to hear from the Law and Politics Society about their work, and take a Q&A from A-level politics students.

Labour promised to fix an extra million potholes by the next election, and we’re delivering. The East Midlands is getting £700 m to invest in repair potholes and prevent new ones, including here in Nottingham and Kimberley.

UK Parliament week is a chance for schools and youth groups across the country to learn about Parliament and how our political system works. I've done a whistle-stop tour around the constituency to talk to students about my work and hear what's important to them.

I’ve visited lots of schools recently as part of UK Parliament Week, and none of them could function for a day without their wonderful support staff.

Whether it’s cooks, cleaners, teaching assistants or admin staff, I’m proud to support @UNISONinSchools’ #StarsInOurSchools day.

Last year Labour’s budget ended the injustice of the Mineworkers' Pension Scheme and boosted the pensions of 294 miners here in Nottingham North and Kimberley.

This year, Labour is finishing the job and returning money to the 163 miners on the BCSSS scheme too.

Today’s budget is about tackling the cost of living, with a higher minimum wage, lower energy bills, and scrapping the 2-child benefit cap.

That last one alone will lift hundreds of thousands of kids out of poverty, and benefit 5,440 right here in Nottingham North and Kimberley.

I was delighted to drop into Bulwell Academy’s new Community Hub recently for their regular Friday morning Brew & Biscuits. Check out their page to see what’s happening at this fantastic new space for our community

The last government stopped processing those arriving in small boats and left us with the hotel use we see now. Labour are getting on with the job of clearing that backlog so that we can end the use of hotels to house asylum seekers.

I'm holding on of my regular pop-up supermarket surgeries this afternoon in Bulwell Morrisons. I'll be here until 12.30 so drop by to let me know what's on your mind, or just to say 'hi'!

Evolve does incredible work in our local community. Their community-led work was what I had in mind when I was working on the Pride in Place scheme, which will deliver new investment to people in Aspley for their priorities

It’s finally here – work has started to revitalise Bulwell Bogs and the market. I’m incredibly proud to have fought for this money as a local MP and to have been responsible for delivering it as a government minister.

Last week, Labour announced £9bn to renew Armed Forces family housing across the country; the biggest investment in more than 50 years.

I'm delighted that Mayor Claire Ward has secured an additional £19 million of government funding to build more than 750 homes in the region. This funding will help deliver the high-quality homes that people need and bring brownfield land back into use.

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the site of the new Kimberley Hub, where building work is progressing quickly. Thanks to the hard work of Kimberley Town Council and Broxtowe Borough Council for getting this government funding spent on creating a valuable community asset.

Too many people have been sold a dream that if they come to this country, they will be housed in a hotel and be able to work illegally. We have to break this model. As part of this, we have carried largest enforcement crackdown on illegal working since records began.

I know that securing Britain’s borders is important to you, and it’s a priority for this Labour government. I told Sky News how we are ramping up raids against employers who are using illegal workers, and pushing for stronger rules to deport foreign criminals.

I'm really proud of the Renter’s Rights Bill and today it is finally in force. Life will be better for renters in Nottingham and Kimberley, with no more fixed term tenancies and no more no-fault evictions. This is the difference a Labour government makes.

This government is committed to helping everyone who can work to find work. Last week I dropped into the Bulwell Jobcentre to meet the new service leader and talk about how we can work together to help people in Nottingham and Kimberley.
