Since there’s been speculation on the matter: I’ve been told the full expectation is that Matt Hague will be continuing in his current role as Pirates hitting coach. We’ve already seen some changes on the Pirates’ coaching staff, but Hague should be back for a second season.

One more on the matter: Brent Strom told the Pirates six weeks ago he would not be returning to the 2026 coaching staff so they could start the process of looking for a new assistant pitching coach if they’d like. If another team shows interest in his services, he’d entertain it.
