Hope people doing stuff with code sanitise their inputs properly

Love to be recognisable, at least as an enemy among a certain community of particularly techbro-brained idiots. Ask your Mac friend if he's learned to sanitise his inputs yet 👍

(Didn't fancy disabling my blocklist to reply to some idiotic takes, hence hopping on the parked account)

Yeah and how it literally spams out everyone's user data so anyone can view it/you can't properly delete anything? Another thing this place needs rid of
August 1, 2024 at 7:16 PM
No, but if I went to a restaurant and saw them drop my pad Thai on the floor and scoop it back up again, I'd ask them to make me a fresh one
August 1, 2024 at 7:15 PM
At least your. excuses are polished by now, if not still suffering from being infuriatingly.smug

Running cover for useless libertarian Devs? Sounds like it
August 1, 2024 at 7:13 PM
Hahaha come on mate I've got a bridge to sell you - if they aren't it's only cos the site isn't big enough yet or they're too stupid
August 1, 2024 at 7:13 PM
It's easy enough to see by the results (and also the codebase changes) where their priorities lie, and it's honestly disgusting
August 1, 2024 at 7:12 PM
Or, keep agitating for a better system, basic changes and fighting useful idiots like you who run cover for them.
August 1, 2024 at 7:12 PM
Sounds like they need to sort their priorities out sharpish tbh - seems they've got plenty of time for useless stwrter packs and peurile meme AI labellers but not basic user safety
August 1, 2024 at 7:11 PM
I'll believe it when I see it, but the Devs need a fire lighting under them, they seem ideologically opposed or just plain stupidly lazy currently - it should have been priority 1
August 1, 2024 at 7:09 PM
Besides, the Devs clearly have time on their hands, or they wouldn't be wasting it making stupid AI labellers, useless starter packs that literally 300 people total have used, and other waste of time bs
August 1, 2024 at 7:08 PM
But then why don't bluesky implement it?
August 1, 2024 at 7:06 PM
They have my data, we're all paying, just not necessarily with money directly
August 1, 2024 at 7:06 PM
I agree with you their T&S department is fucking useless, though I think we have differing views on the solution to that
August 1, 2024 at 7:05 PM
The Devs should be required to implement basic safety features before being allowed to run a social network - same reason you can't be allowed to run in the EU without block functionality etc
August 1, 2024 at 7:05 PM
Again "if you don't like it, leave" has always been a shitty argument.

And because the userbase demands basic safety features - the Devs and the site have a responsibility to keep the users of their site safe and not trade that away for some weird techbro reason
August 1, 2024 at 7:04 PM
Ok but why is this a problem? Cos Bsky currently controls all PDS and instances outside of like 20 very limited self-hosted ones
August 1, 2024 at 7:03 PM
Also yeah why not, you talk about how the big Bsky thing is portability
August 1, 2024 at 7:01 PM
The best time to implement these features was from the start, the second best time is now
August 1, 2024 at 7:00 PM
They were also quite misleading about private accounts early on, saying they were coming soon, etc, so people gave them more slack than they deserved
August 1, 2024 at 7:00 PM
Chats with friends and bits of my diary, reluctantly, yes! Because this stupid fucking site won't give me a way to do it privately, like every other social media network, so users are forced into the unsafe trade-off of just hoping other people don't look at what they're sharing with friends
August 1, 2024 at 6:57 PM
Why not? If that's what the users want, the Devs should change their plans
August 1, 2024 at 6:56 PM
Again, you poll users on this site and I'll bet you 90% have never even heard of federation or decentralisation
August 1, 2024 at 6:55 PM
You write that first sentence like it's a joke, but it's pretty reasonable tbh, *especially* if all the passengers on the ship are running in hamster wheels to power the propellors - a closer analogy to social media users
