I had a similar experience with YuGiOh. Paid a chunk of money to play against decks that prevent the opponent from playing. The guy I was suppose to play before I left even begged me to stay, saying he didn't get to play last round, and then opened with a dozen negates that stopped me from playing

It's comedy strength. Or I guess strength of stomach in this case.
