You know what I just learned? While we and chimps form factions, war, and torture outsiders, Bonobos greet strangers with curiosity, grooming, and kindness. They share food even with outsiders, bond and comfort, they don't kill each other... and we share almost 99% of our DNA.

See? It is possible.

The Democrat Party needs people who are willing to make a change. Some people think we need to move to the center. No, Democrats can't win by being diet Republicans. We need to stand firm in our values and be willing to make meaningful change. AOC, Bernie, we could learn some things from them.

If Elon didn't have an antisemitic history, didn't ally himself with the "anti-woke" faction who heavily overlaps with antisemitism, wasn't getting support from ACTUAL Nazis for it, or outright denied the claims, I might ignore the salute thing. Until then, he needs to be held accountable.

I've been getting <6 hours of sleep since Saturday night. I felt fine on Sunday, fine on Monday, fine on Tuesday.

It's 8:15 AM with no caffeine and I feel like I might snap at the smallest thing already.

Meta, thanks to Zuckerberg, is getting rid of fact checkers. While he'd like you to believe that this is for free speech or because of bias, we all know the reason. He wants to cozy up with Trump & Elon, so he doesn't want users of his app calling Trump or the GOP out for their lies.

Meta (Instagram and Facebook) under Mark Zuckerberg as of recent events, has changed their policy on hate speech. It is now perfectly okay to say that LGBTQ+ individuals are mentally ill. Gee, thanks Zuckerberg.

Fun Fact of Dec 13, 2024

Humans have evolved narrow pelvises due to our bipedalism, which makes childbirth especially taxing and painful for us. During childbirth, the pelvic bone can and has to dilate several inches to make room for the baby to pass through.

The rocky planets, or inner and terrestrial planets, meaning the planets in our Solar System between the Sun and Asteroid Belt, only have three moons in total. Those are Mars' two moons, Phobos and Deimos, and the Earth's moon. Mercury and Venus have no moons.

Fun Fact of Dec 4, 2024

During WW2, estimates for total military and civilian death are 60-85 million-ish. Of these, the USSR and China are thought to have made up ~44 million, give or take a few mill, meaning these two countries made up over half the total deaths, so maybe not a fun fact.

Fun Fact of Dec 3, 2024

The human population was 1 billion in 1800, meaning we got there with 5,000+ years of civilization and 300,000 of our species. Since 2000, we got from ~6.1 billion people to over 8 billion. This can be explained with the DTM, but I don't have the characters for that.

We cannot tolerate the intolerant, or else intolerance will take hold. If bigots continue to be tolerated, especially in the halls of Congress and the White House, then everybody who isn't just like them are in danger. We have a responsibility to vote, to protest, and to educate.

Humans, and the rest of our fellow animals, are more closely related to mushrooms and other fungi than plants. We share more of our active genes in DNA with mushrooms than plants, and we diverged from them several hundreds of millions of years after we diverged from plants.
