School is back, and I’ve started off the year using the Question Sort technique I learned in a @trevormackenzie.bsky.social PD in every class. Students write questions on post-its, then categorise the questions, then we discuss. They’re engaged, owning their learning, THINKING, and working together!

I’ve heard people say that AI could help teacher workload issues, but as a HOD, it’s added to my workload because now I spend my time chasing students whose work has been flagged as AI and trying to get to the bottom of what is their work and what isn’t.

I’ve been playing with grey scale as well! It helps a lot, especially if I do a tonal study all in one colour. Introducing other colours is what makes it hard for me but I’m learning to ‘see’ differently now

I’m still learning a lot. I struggle with value and perspective, but for me it’s all about play and experimentation. This mystical guy is my favourite painting!

Gorgeous! I’ve started doing watercolour painting this year and I’m so happy I did. Even just making blobs on a page gives me a sense of calm and fulfilment

Amaaaazing! That must mean you’re doing a great job! It’s a challenging journey, but very rewarding. Just hard not to get distracted with all the things you want to read when you should be writing

Dr Ellie Mohammadi Foomani shared her research on co-designing with preservice teachers to help them experience relational and restorative pedagogies. A transformative process leading to joy and authenticity for the researchers and autonomy and self-efficacy for preservice teachers 💞 #AARE2024

Dr Amanda McKay presented her chapter with Dr Stephanie Wescott on teacher guilt in testing regime. A very moving and beautifully theorised analysis of the clash between teacher values and actions in data-centric school cultures. Rip down the data walls! @chalkhands.bsky.social #AARE2024

Katrina Lawrence-Honeycomb on what is holding us back from achieving gender equality: a thorough and thoughtful policy analysis on how gender stereotypes, the illusion of equal choice, and silences in policy stop any meaningful progress. The usual story of individualising problems 🙄 #AARE2024
