🚨 Security Alert: Phishing scam targeting ASPS conference attendees.

Emails offering "attendee lists" from non-institutional addresses (gmail, etc.) are fraudulent. ASPS only uses .edu/.org.au domains.

Stay safe!

Pleasure to meet and hear from NASA Emeritus Senior Scientist Ray Wheeler today! Ray is a wealth of knowledge on controlled environments for food and life support, having led the advanced life support research group. I'm lucky to be collaborating with him on LEAF which will grow plants on the moon🌿🌕

Saved the best till last - really enjoyed today's gas exchange workshop with Yazen and Steven from @w-u-r.bsky.social at the 2025 PEPG Field Techniques Workshop. @sebiology.bsky.social
Can't wait to get stuck into some A-Ci curves and chlorophyll fluorescence once I'm back in Aus 🥳

Amazingly, the first paper from my PhD was published during Plant Biology 2022 in Portland and now the final one has been published during #PlantBio2025 (although I'm sadly not at the conference this year)! @aspbofficial.bsky.social

P4S had a visit from the Australian Space Agency (including astronaut Katherine Bennell-Pegg) last week. It was great to chat about my current research with the Lunar Effects on Agricultural Flora (LEAF) project - an Artemis III mission which will send plants to the moon! 🌿🚀🌕

From Plant Sciences PhD to Professor of Plant Synthetic Biology – where could studying plant sciences take you?

It the latest of our alumni stories, Prof. Jenny Mortimer talks about studying here & how it helped shape her career.

Jenny Mortimer with the MAPHEUS 15 research rocket at Esrange Space Centre, Sweden, where she launched an experiment in November 2024 sending duckweed to the edge of space and back to measure gravity's impact for potential space food sources. The flight, facilitated by the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and other international partners, offered valuable research time with an unprecedented seven minutes of weightlessness or microgravity.
