Apparently my pronunciation of the vowel in that word misled dictation and I didn’t catch the error.

In Jurassic Park, Hammond (and others) consistently refer to “Dr Sattler” “Dr Grant” and “Dr Malcolm”

That statement is wrong. I’ve studied and taught at more then a few colleges and universities, and there are always some PhD or ScD faculty who prefer “Dr” to “Professor” as a title for whatever reason, and no one thinks anything of it one way or another in my experience.

I am completely unfamiliar with his writing style apart from this, but here I’m guessing that he was deliberately parodying her style in the VF excerpt, except a bit less floridly, and it worked.
