Tonight's full moon rise over Moon Island
A full moon rising over a small rounded island at sunset looking east with the pastel pink "belt of Venus" haze in the sky & reflected in the smooth sea. In the foreground is a sandbar made mostly of black pebbles & dark mussel shells with a few dots of white clam & oyster shells mixed in like stars in a night sky.

Happy to be on the RealOrganic podcast, with #DaveChapman.
Left, right, or center, we should all be concerned about the monopolization of food, and its relation to pesticide overuse, exploited labor, climate change. (Not to mention food that just tastes like crap...)

🔌 What’s a wuzzle? To #WHOI engineers, it’s a mess of tangled cords and wires. While it doesn’t hold an official spot in the dictionary, experts say it originated as a verb meaning “to jumble…”

Seeing @astrokatie.com’s succinct explanation of why it’s good and humane to fund basic research, please indulge me re-posting this thread.

We do science because we’re human, but there are plenty of justifications for folks who need to hear different arguments.

I’ve seen some posts recently, about the value of basic research, in light of funding cuts and demands that research have immediate economic justification.

Let me collect some info here, in a thread, about why it’s a bad idea to attach those sorts of demands to funding. 🧵 🧪 ⚛️
