Where is this little hippo on display? Any idea why the modern paint was applied?

Whilst hippos were feared, they were also seen as an animal with revitalizing power. A creature from the fertile mud of the Nile, fiercely protective of their young, hippos embodied divine powers guaranteeing rebirth. Small blue hippo statuettes found in tombs appear more benevolent than fearsome

You’re not alone! In my alt text (click Alt icon on image) I’ve written ‘Although the ancient Egyptians were well aware of the danger and destructive power of hippos, this painted hippo has rather a friendly face!’
