Exactly. Fidelity is too rigid...I like INTEGRITY. As a former curriculum director, I know the value of the consistent resource. So long as it does not undermine teachers, devalue them as professionals, or take the focus off of engagement, relevance, & deep understanding (and JOY!) #ElemMathChat

YESSS! And not all standards are created equal! Who says the the program covers all the standards, doesn't add superfluous ones or miss others, and that they scope them in a way that is proportional to their importance for the next grade or course? #ElemMathChat

And...some teachers forget the good stuff they know or are too afraid or dejected to use it. I am constantly reminding them that, just like their students, they bring prior knowledge to the table!! #ElemMathChat

STICK TO YOUR GUNS! When math makes sense to students, the beauty of it coming together brings joy. This is true for us and for students. Math should be fun! #ElemMathChat

So frustrating! If the powers that be invested in teachers vs programs...building their capacity & confidence, then programs wouldn't matter as much. Ts would know their standards, maximize connections & foster understanding. Instead, time is spent 'learning' programs that change in 5 years or less.
