Work in assessment. Single mum to a brilliant small boy. Interested in education, rowing, politics and cats (not necessarily in that order)
I thought I’d got everything down in plenty of time, but my son has pointed out various bits of tinsel I’ve missed 🤦🏻‍♀️

In my first job the kids asked me where I was from as ‘you’re geet posh you’. I was working less than ten miles from where I grew up. The ‘posh’ uni obviously had more of an effect than I thought!

… He has an EHCP now, so has TA support, and an ed psych recommends removing him from the classroom before he gets overwhelmed (which seems reasonable to me), but he has been excluded before when they haven’t recognised that he’s getting anxious. I’m honestly not sure who that helps.

Most poor behaviour isn’t caused by SEND, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not a contributing factor sometimes. I think it also depends on how you define ‘poor behaviour’.
I have a six year old who has trouble regulating his emotions due to his ADHD and autism. He can have meltdowns and lash out…

Have been so torn between her and Alex Kingston so far. They’re both fabulous, but tonight Karen was just spectacular. I bet Craig regrets raising that 9 paddle now!

I think if you go back through history there are plenty of badly flawed geniuses.
I love listening to Wagner, his music is astonishing, but flawed would be a bit of an understatement for the man.

Someone bought my boy a ‘story box’ - basically a box of cards with prompts / ideas for the starts and ends of stories. He chooses a couple and makes up the stories and sometimes illustrates them (although tbf he’s better at storytelling than drawing 😂). Amazing present.

Sure the Americans will be happy to pay for it. Just means drug companies based elsewhere develop them.

I am getting it. If inclusive services are also available what is the problem?
You may find it illogically triggering, but vulnerable people who’ve experienced a massive trauma aren’t always logical. And if the lack of a space they feel comfortable in stops them accessing services that isn’t ok.

If inclusive services / spaces are available how is it excluding or hurting anyone?

I don’t think having a structure that includes some separate spaces is a problem. So long as they are not the only services available and inclusive spaces are available as well. And I don’t think wanting the option of separate spaces makes someone inherently transphobic.
