I suspect broad Fife Scots is still exactly as baffling to my ears as Dorric was 20 yrs ago but it would depend on how fast the person was speaking. I only heard Dorric ranted at me by little old ladies on King St as a student 😢

I understand as much Irish as I do Scots Gaelic - I can recognise everyday words and colours in place names and that's about it unless I look it up.
OTOH, I can speak Dundonian granny dialect in a Shropshire accent so... ⚖️/ ⚖️ 🤣

I still get ribbed constantly by Scottish mates for calling *anything* a "job" if I don't mean someone's career! Nevermind jobbie, which is *obviously* offensive slang even to someone whose mother scolded them for saying "crap" as a child...
