The Department of Public Works has granted a permit to P3R to close the inbound Armstrong Tunnel and the Philip Murray (South Tenth Street) Bridge in Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Run and Family Walk. The closure will occur from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 5.

The lane closures, which started on March 4, 2024, were required for steel, deck, pier, sidewalk, drainage, and approach pavement repairs; barrier and expansion dam replacements; painting; concrete cleaning and sealing; as well as scour and erosion remediation.

P3R will close the bridge from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 27 for the Dollar Bank Junior Great Race. The PDP will close the bridge from 9 a.m. on Monday, September 29 through 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14 for Oktoberfest Pittsburgh.

Work on the road, which is expected to end in December, includes extensive concrete roadway and joint repairs, drainage improvements, sidewalk repairs, curb replacement, as well as sign and pavement marking work.

Live music has been a staple of HOPE Graduations, which usually featured beautiful violin performances, but the latest ceremony for 14 new graduates of the HOPE program featured Jeff Wood's electric guitar.
