I love that area. I lived off Raymond Ave in college and have fond memories of walking down Doswell past College Park to go to Muffaletta and shop at the cute little gift shop.

Correct! In many cases they’ll work remotely from Canada for US companies so they can be in the same time zone. (already happening)

Just paid $50k for a cobol license for our financial software at a large enterprise! Vendor has no plans to rewrite their remaining cobol jobs. And like you said, when they rewrote certain core processes they were so buggy for years.

By default inclusivity historically didn’t happen and still wouldn’t if we weren’t intentional about learning/changing. So the DEI programs and trainings are there to encourage it and make an awareness. But I’ve never worked somewhere with a hiring mandate or quota like OP says existed at Target.

I work in IT too at a Fortune 5 company. I’ve hired for 10 yrs. There isnt a quota system like you said, that would be illegal! DEI in my org has been about seeing your implicit bias to hire those who look like you, bringing a variety of voices to the table, etc. If I hire a woman I say hey great!
