Dark souls 2 is masterful in enemy design, lore, and set pieces. I don't think any but bloodborne could even come close to it
Dark souls 2 is ruined by trial and error mechanics that punish you severely for errors, damage creep (a problem with all soulsborne games tbf) and HORRIBLE boss runs.

Honestly it pisses me off even more that this is coming from sega because the persona 3 remake didn't even INCLUDE ALL THE CONTENT THAT WAS ALREADY IN PREVIOUS VERSIONS. They dropped an incomplete version to sell the extras back or just straight cut it out.
