Ex art historian, accidental museum and gallery retail expert. I write about it sometimes. Award winning designer/maker mentor and curator (it found me). I just like nice things.
This was Olive’s 5 year old solution to her realising half of her extended family whom she loves very much was across a sea. I came across this today and it feels bigger and more relevant to losing my grandmother this past Summer. Goodbye-ing people is such a vital and permanent life skill.

Have you read this yet? A good book is one that earns a space on your shelf. This one is a creative canon with the feminine interwoven so powerfully into its fabric. But it’s for everyone. She theorises that the most important thing humanity has innovated is the vessel, the bag, the basket.

Would have been more iconic if they were cool and fashionable tbh.

I grew up in LA. I left in 2005 to live in Philadelphia, then Italy, then Scotland. LA is still the fabric that shaped me. My soul is Los Angelean. I’m devastated for everyone who has lost so much.

Thinking on the Romantasy man. They’re always ‘long-lived’ so they’ve been around for several hundred years. Which is why they tend to be thoughtful. There’s comedy in the idea that for men to be not be selfish and single minded they have to grow up for another couple hundred years.

The bitter cold up here in Scotland always feels worse in January. Freezing, sideways rain feels like an affront. ‘Oh you’ve not seen the sun today? Here’s some icy, wet wind to blow you home’. If Scotland were a person he’d be a total dick.

Took down the Christmas tree, back to work tomorrow. Had a million things to do, so naturally, I listed a bunch of stuff on Vinted instead. If you love mules and clogs as much as I do, and you have big feet, and you live in the UK, have I got some good news for you. www.vinted.co.uk/member/80179...

One of my fave books this year was Natalie Olay’s Bad Taste. So good. Also extra points for a great cover. Taste and aesthetics are social and political, which is frankly a delicious concept to explore.

Hey if you like books, design, fashion, irreverence, and art a bit, don’t follow me, I don’t like any of those things.
