Illness be or wellness thrive, my dreams prove I am yet alive.
Prime 4 doesn't just get Metroid right, it absolutely nails classic sci-fi in ways the series, and very few other games, have ever done.

The history of the D-pad:
1982: Nintendo invents the cross D-pad for the Game & Watch
1983: The same D-pad is used in the Famicom controllers
1990: The Super Famicom uses a new, bigger design
For the remainder of human history, no controller made uses a D-pad that is worth a single, solitary, shit.

I woke up to an email and text message saying my order had been delivered... at 6:34am.
My local Walmart played Santa Clause and got all the Switch 2s in my town on their doorstep complete with an extra treat. I shall enjoy my exclusive preorder bonus Pringles and Coke.

Kubo and the Two Strings.
What a fantastic movie to follow playing Okami. It didn't get the attention it deserved, but it's one of the most wonderfully heartfelt films I've seen. If you like stop-motion, Japanese culture, or stories about life after lose then I'm certain it will mean much to you.

As a big Banjo-Kazooie fan, I do NOT want a sequel. I want a prequel resembling Dream: Land of Giants. The pirate-themed pseudo "JRPG" that became BK. A young Banjo on an adventure against Cpt. Blackeye, saving a surely hatchling Kazooie along the way. Their friendship would make so much more sense.

I've had one, yes. What about second god pack?

Monthly game for February: The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. This was low on my list, but after Okami and being stressed for time I wanted to play a traditional Zelda that I had never played.
I guess I'm 60% done and I'm loving it. Only a couple gripes, but Capcom made one of the best 2D Zeldas.

Monthly game #1: Okami
It's Feb 1 (as of now), but I loved Okami so much that I nearly 100%ed it. Despite many issues its themes of passion, resolve, art, love, nature, and life itself easily won and the beauty of its design only secured it. I hope to turn my many notes into a nice write-up soon.

My 1st movie of 2025 was going to be a big one. But then I noticed Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl was on Netflix. It was... maybe not the strongest start. Not even as the comedy I hoped for. But with how long Aardman movies take to make, I couldn't believe they pulled off an AI story.

Very tough question for me, but I kept thinking of this:

BioShock Infinite

Deeply compelling characters, great writing, and an ending that revealed my love for ambiguity with nuanced interpretation. It's the sort of thing that 10 people could play and have 11 different understandings. All viable.

A great one so far.

Not exactly the most accurate representation of my tastes, as a lot of these I played but either didn't like or don't like now. But it is an indicator of my depth of exposure to games.

When I talk about how much I needed Matt's streams and his community, I mean it.

My contributions:

8. Doom 3
I've always loved Doom, but this retelling was something special. The lighting, effects, and use of normal maps was unlike anything I had seen and created an immersive horror that still retained its fun factor. It made me see games from a much more technical level and that carries on today
December 8, 2024 at 10:22 PM
7. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
My introduction to D&D style RPG gameplay and still one of the best flavors of Star Wars. Its ancient setting perfectly mixes with familiar elements and the story flies under the radar before blindsiding you with a twist that alters your entire perspective.
December 8, 2024 at 1:53 AM
6. Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle
I don't care for Ubisoft, Rabbids, nor XCOM. But learning about Davide Soliani and hearing Grant Kirkhope reprise his idol Koji Kondo later sold me on what would become one of my favorite surprises. It's fun, challenging, and uses the IP better than Nintendo at times
December 8, 2024 at 1:10 AM
5. Bioshock Infinite
A "digital actor" wasn't always scary, it was a true artistic goal. Half-Life 2's Alyx got close, but Elizabeth Comstock was a multi-layered triumph. Infinite is rarely rivaled in its writing, attention to detail, and impactful story-telling. It is best described as "impossible"

Happy Birthday Iwata-san.

Wish you were here.

4. Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus
A superb entry in a troubled series, and one of the most influential works of art to me. Despite modest design the atmosphere of this oppressive world never lets you forget how small this ill-qualified hero is. The gameplay is dated, but the experience is uniquely striking
