The hypocrisy is simple:
Lucas “told the story he had to tell,” so controversy proves purity.
Johnson “subverted expectations,” so controversy proves bad faith.
Same storytelling mechanics, opposite judgments, one stupid mother f..

“Gary Kurtz was fired” isn’t an argument.
People get fired from chaotic productions all the time. It doesn’t retroactively erase their creative disagreements or invalidate their perspective.
You can’t turn a messy, multi-sided production history into a morality play just to defend Lucas.

“Star Wars was only 25% of what I wanted” isn’t a justification for the Special Editions.
Every director wishes they had more time and money that doesn’t mean the finished film stops being the film.
Lucas’s dissatisfaction doesn’t magically justify overwriting the original.

Calling the original incoherent so the SE can “fix” it is backwards.
The 1977 film communicates its world just fine.
The SE doesn’t add clarity it just hides sets behind CGI garbage.
That’s not worldbuilding. It’s visual vomit.

If your defense of the SEs boils down to “OOT fans can’t understand what’s happening onscreen,” then you don’t have a defense.
People object because the added shots break tone, pacing, and composition, not because they’re confused about Mos Eisley.
Insults aren’t film analysis.

People don’t dislike the SEs because “CGI bad”.
They dislike them because the revisions break composition, pacing, tone, and character beats, and because the original cuts are still unavailable.

None of your replies address that—you just attack the fans, not the issues.

There’s a huge difference between polishing a shot and dropping a CGI creature into the middle of it that hijacks the frame.

Calling Jar Jar a Keaton style physical comedian only works if you’ve never actually watched Keaton. BK had precision, physical logic, setup/payoff, and real-world stakes. Jar Jar is CG vomit that ruins tone, stakes, and basic rhythm. It’s imitation without any of the craft.

ROTJ’s second Death Star isn’t criticized because it looks bad. it’s criticized because it’s the same story beat lazily repeated.
Pointing at cool images doesn’t change that. It just proves the visuals are strong but the idea is safe.

pointing at one iconic, simple ANH hallway shot and using it to excuse the prequels looking like a PlayStation cutscene.

Yes, Lucas had good instincts in ’77.
He also had constraints, collaborators and less of an ego

One great silhouette in 1977 doesn’t fix years of awful looking junk.
December 6, 2025 at 9:06 PM
Lucas uses it as a CGI vomit chase as a detour with no stakes, no character growth, and no plot payoff.
Besson’s chase actually builds story, defines characters, and turns the city into a living obstacle course. Different goals, different strengths

Those people were completely right and they were ignored because of ego
It might not have been a yes man environment, but it was something worse

your take was dogshit that’s why people dog piled you, not because they disagreed. it was a complete discharacterization of Master chief and Halo as a whole.

Glad your franchise got murdered

Seems like it would've happened either way

What an absolutely brainless wretched take

There is a difference between moral strength and brutality
Talha clearly cannot tell the difference

9 years for the most dogshit takes
Almost a decade of your life wasted

Another fun example of George Lucas having GREAT instincts: the scene where baby Greedo accuses Anakin of cheating in the pod race and being told by one of his friends that one day he’ll “meet a bad end”. The scene was cut, but not only was it thought of at all, it was then
May 26, 2025 at 12:46 PM
In an earlier draft of Return of the Jedi, it was Lucas’ idea to have Obi-Wan be fully resurrected so he and Yoda could help Luke face the emperor in the flesh, only for others behind the scenes to tell him that’s a bad idea. You’re putting way too much stock in his instincts.

The people who actually made Vader compelling character were not George Lucas
He would be nothing with his suit designed by someone else and his voice done by someone else
May 17, 2025 at 9:24 PM
He was too busy trying to sell toys to idiots like this
May 17, 2025 at 7:32 PM
The darkest thing about the video is that it’s then used to shill a game show made by Nebula with zero irony
