Novgorod was a monitor built for the Imperial Russian Navy in the 1870s. She was one of the most unusual warships ever constructed, and still survives in popular naval myth as one of the worst warships ever built. Look it up.

A lot of that applies to insects also. The dimorphism can be quite dramatic in that instance.

I was born during the Eisenhower administration. I watched on TV as Jackie gave tours of the White House. Everytime I see this destruction I want to cry.

Today even some "quality" products are designed to fail after a relatively short time. Test a 'fridge from 1950's to today's high end 'fridge. Bells & whistles make it fail in a few years instead of lasting for 10-20 years.
