Fun fact; Dick Tracy is already public domain due to no renewal on the first strips, but its complicated with the movie rights
In theory you can use him safely in a story or comic for now but to make a movie wait until 2027? Idk it's a bit complicated

I know Popeye's later iterations are already Public domain due to thimble theatre failing to renew many of their strips but I'ma stick with Ugly Popeye cause it makes sense Olive wouldn't just like a handsome dude.

Peanuts aren't PD, that was a fluke due to renewal resurfacing. The rest of the discoveries are still PD tho so don't worry. And Lil folks is still free due to lack of notice so Charlie Brown and Rover aka Snoopy prototype is still available for reuse

Just be careful of trademarks however! Same for Charlie, Snoopy (who was not named until December 10 and sadly that was renewed) Beetle Bailey (who was originally a college aged lazy guy and never went to the military until later.)

I also didn't see renewals of copyrights for Swee'pea, Poopdeck Pappy, Eugene The Jeep and Alice the Goon. So those Popeye characters alongside the spinach power and Bluto and wimpy are free to use. Same for the first Felix episode from 1958 so I guess Felix can have his magic bag?
