The number of saves under a post is the number of people who have bookmarked it. The bookmarks are private by design.

When you save an image from a post, it's not reflected anywhere. You can see that in your own 'Saved' tab after you've saved a picture

Anyone can save images from any website where right-click is not disabled. You could do it on Bsky the whole time without the new Save thing

No harm, I'm just saying those two things are unrelated. When you save a post, it appears in your "Saved" tab, that's all. You don't get a local copy of the post. It's literally a bookmark.

To steal a photo, you just open it and save it on your device. You don't need to click the Save flag for that
