Based on morphological and molecular evidence, 𝑉𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑎 𝑔𝑟𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑖 is recorded for the first time in Switzerland alongside 𝑉. 𝑐𝑢𝑟𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑠, updating the distribution of aquatic Alpine-Apennine bugs and expanding Swiss insect fauna records.

The presence of the rare alpine insect 𝐻𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑟𝑜𝑏𝑖𝑢𝑠 𝑠𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑑𝑙𝑖 was confirmed in Switzerland with preserved museum specimens in Basel and London, as well as live specimens.

Misidentified for over a century, a new European moth species has been discovered by Peter Huemer.

“It is without a doubt the prettiest species I have encountered in my long scientific career," said Huemer, who named the moth after his wife.
