Speaking as an “American”, we need to do better. All my maternal relatives are Canadian, so different spellings or pronunciation is no big deal.
Although one time we were at the falls and stepping into the elevator I asked the gentleman nearest the panel to “hit seven please”.

Perhaps it could be a requested Christmas, birthday, anniversary type gift? In the states we allowed to write off a certain amount $ in gifts. (Yeah, my Dad was a lawyer, don’t break the law, go around it. lol)

I don’t allow pictures of myself. Childhood or any other pics of me, shown to anyone without my approval gets you cut out after the second warning not to do it again. My past is mine, my memories of it are mine. I lived it, I control it.

But I’m almost ten years older and don’t really expect another ten at my age.
I have loved what my country stood for all my life, while acknowledging its many flaws.

I learned to make a few family favorites from my Gramma. She never wrote down a recipe for me. It was always “if you want to make it LIKE me, you have to do it WITH me until you do. I’m now 70 and no matter how many times I tell my sister or nieces the recipe I get “you’re leaving something out!”
