Good news: it was able to identify the tree, even without leaves. Says it’s a white ash (it could be wrong though, like I said, I don’t know trees).

Bad news: the app says my fallen tree looks sick, and unless I pay for the premium version, it won’t tell me how to make it better.

Wish we could turn off the AI summaries that show up at the top of search results. Like I know borders have moved around over the centuries but this does not seem right 😒

So possibly the shelter should have classed her as medium hair with an asterisk? The internet suggests it can take several months for a longer-haired cat’s fur to grow back fully after it’s been shaved. We’ll see how hers continues.

Mostly because she seems to have grown one since being here, but only on her head? There’s a visible line on her neck above which her fur is thicker and a lighter color.

Daisy two months ago at the shelter vs this morning

tl;dr consider adopting a pet if you are able, it is such a beautiful thing getting to watch them come to realize they are home

We’re working on her food insecurity and the fact that her two favorite textures to claw are quilts and whatever jeans I am currently wearing. With everything she’s been through, she’s still such a loving and friendly cat.

She may have spent her first night here under the bed, but she’s spent most nights since then on me, and every morning I wake up to some aggressive kneading. This cat has the boundaries of a toddler.

c) it would also be a suitable name for a cute little hobbit girl with hairy feet and a love of extra meals.

Daisy is a medium-haired cat, which in her case means she’s got long hair on her tail, her belly, and the soles of her feet. She slides on the wood floors, poor thing.

Her name at the HS was that of an automated assistant, so we had to change that. After getting to know her a bit, she is now Miss Daisy Bell, a) from the song, b) she’s got an orange spot in the middle of her face like the center of a daisy, and more importantly

She was scheduled for her spay a couple days later, so we agreed we’d bring her home straight from the vet. The stress of having a pet’s first experience of living with you being while recovering from surgery… ah, but look at her. Look at that sweet little face.

It’s hard out here for everybody right now, but if you’re able, consider adopting a pet, or making a donation to @projectmeow.bsky.social or to your local organization. Kindness is what gets us through.

What I’m saying is, adopt adult and/or more independent cats, they deserve good homes too and winning their love is so rewarding. Stevie’s kittens got adopted quickly but she, a sweet treasure of a cat, spent months longer in foster care waiting for a home.

She was a sweet, gentle, and very polite girl. Never a lap cat, she showed her love by staying near me, sleeping near me, following me around, and coming looking for attention after she’d had some quiet time alone. We respected each other’s independence and interests.

She was rescued from the streets of West Philly, then moved to the suburbs, and spent her last year in a house in the country, where she had good window views of squirrels, deer, and so many birds. This city girl came a long way.

We only had three and a half years together, when a whole lifetime would not have been enough. On the other hand, we had three and a half years together, and that is more than some people and cats ever get. I am grateful for the time we had.

Beloved @projectmeow.bsky.social alumna Stevie passed away last Friday, October 3, at the age of 9, and after a little over three and a half years as part of her forever family. She is deeply loved and dearly missed.

bzzt, nope, this is not the approach to take, you are not a serious party. ask yourselves what Gritty would do, and do that instead

Apparently this year at Dragoncon there was a company that would do IV fluids/vitamins/electrolytes, either you’d go to them in one of the hotels or they’d come up to your room for an extra fee (here, have a bad screenshot of their menu on FB)
