the remake basically just uses a different combat system imo

its funny this is about trails because i was about to say without looking at the og post its like the only massive franchise that this doesnt hold up in. they built like 4 different entry points that are more or less 3 different turn-based combat systems then you can go back for the lore if desired

oh yeah the narrative of the article sucks lmao

when people already knew how bad ai was. its become more obvious as time has gone on but artists have been on this train for a while. simply put they just hope nobody cares enough
December 17, 2025 at 1:01 AM
of course I'm more than happy to forgive if they acknowledge their wrongdoing and show they will change for their next project. But as it stands sandfall has the same policy that larian has touted. e33 can still of course make a statement and make good but ai was used in the creation of the game
December 17, 2025 at 1:01 AM
both him and vincke have now posted something along the lines of "we still have concept artists we just use genai to pass ideas to them" and dont seem to understand why people are angry with them for that
December 16, 2025 at 7:38 PM
i was also recently pointed to an article where the e33 producer says that they use ai "but not much" english.elpais.com/culture/2025...

ah i was shown an article (english.elpais.com/culture/2025...) where the producer just admits it was used im e33. speculatively they seem to have the same internal policy as larian but are just quieter about it.

otherwise the profit incentive that guides their hand will simply throw anti-ai to the wolves if theyve ever been caught once
December 16, 2025 at 5:57 PM
im not gonna tell you to change your mind since we all have our lines in the sand, i would only say clemency is worthwhile for those who come out, admit it was a mistake, and show a pattern of improvement (ie sandfalls next game if they come out against genai)
December 16, 2025 at 5:57 PM
totally, i dont hold projects individual artists work on against them, but even the producer behind e33 has said they used ai, and broche broche wasnt willing to have an opinion. thats 2 too many high ups in the process for (at least me) to trust sandfall without a public statement
December 16, 2025 at 5:54 PM
english.elpais.com/culture/2025... anyone seeing this just now heres the producer of e33 saying sandfall and e33 use ai

oh yeah i mean it wasnt much for sure, but it was more than the nothing that the "artistic" and "meaningful" game got is all i meant. especially after tga's
December 16, 2025 at 5:39 PM
real artists goodwill (and good opinions). there has to be unambiguous condemnation of the practice from the entity itself (or the leader of the project) otherwise it will continue to be normalized
December 16, 2025 at 5:38 PM
thats admittedly my main issue though, Broche/sandfall remained ambiguous so they get the "benefit of the doubt." in the article even vincke says there are people there who dont like it and im sure there are bg3 artists who dont like ai either. but we cant let companies take advantage of (1/2)
December 16, 2025 at 5:38 PM
yeah exactly and the "maybe" is just too much for me. it just reads like broche/sandfall are better at PR than larian or alters, getting the "benefit of the doubt" because he/sandfall didnt take a stance (or be made to take one, since so few people were vocal about it)
December 16, 2025 at 5:33 PM
oh totally, theres no moral condemnation for anyone who accidentally buys somwthing with gen ai in it, but the devs or compant behind it need to be held to something for thinking they could trick people by hiding it
December 16, 2025 at 5:31 PM
i almost agree, but sandfall never called it a fly or anything dirty. they saw it on the plate before most customers an removed it, hoping they wouldnt notice
December 16, 2025 at 5:28 PM
any chance you could point me to the apology? ive scoured their website and socials and have never seen anything but would be happy to be wrong (as ive heard e33 is otherwise good). outside of the aside from the wapo interview that just acknowledged it without opinion though I havent seen anything
December 16, 2025 at 5:26 PM
not a review for e33 i meant eurogamer and aftermath wrote pieces about arc. aftermath also had something about ai in general that mentioned e33 but nothign specific.
