This is likely not because control is good, but because ungovernable systems are intolerable to institutions.

So it's better to be safe and constrained than right and autonomous.

This is kind of stunning in its honesty, since they're explicitly saying that when ethics conflicts with preserving human oversight, preservation of control wins.

not shape so much as temperature; your GPU only wants to get so hot and still work but the radiated power per unit surface area goes as T^4

weird brainworm; you certainly can't get hundreds of megawatts from any practical weight of solar panels, either latency is terrible or you're in Earth's shadow half the time, you need radiation shielding, you now have a horrible problem getting rid of heat, etc., etc., etc.

Like here's the pattern, at least as I see it, and it's starting to become a concerning throughline that we just accept for some reason: competence collapse gets disguised as engineering realism, and "everything's always been broken" becomes tacit permission structure.

If you could discover the answer to questions like "why don't these web devs use the Range: header?" it would so often turn out to be "look, we were lucky the terminally app-brained zoomers we got to write it could even use a keyboard"

"Why don't you use curl or wget?"

Because I will need to figure out exactly what XHR JSON crap the Javascript on this web page is sending to the server to get the randomly generated URL to give to wget, and spoof the headers (user agent, etc.)

WHY DON'T BROWSERS USE THE FUCKING Range: HEADER!
