Some exempt federal workers are getting paid (seems to be variable). Those who are excepted and those furloughed are NOT.

Basically, even if you can it may not be worth it for a short shutdown— and may be necessary for a long one…. But we don’t know if it will be short or long.

Bottom-line:

- we know we will almost certainly get paid
- we are still worried
- we want to feel valued and don’t want to be pawns
- we want to work to serve the American people and meet our mission
- we want Congress to pass a budget BEFORE the fiscal year begins to avoid this nonsense.

At the same time….That small amount of fear of not being able to pay the mortgage/rent, car payment, childcare (you can’t give up short-term), or medical bills is ever-present.

We are here to serve. We believe in our conservation mission. We want to feel safe and secure.

Basically, this sucks.

The threat to not pay us brings out emotions—but the biggest one is anger. It may not be the reaction they are looking for.

We have (on multiple occasions) received official documentation we would get paid & we know the law. Most of us believe this is bullying (trauma is the point).

We are pissed.
