Context is *everything*. The inventory of this woman lists 87 books, which sounds like a lot, but if we look at the whole inventory we found there were also 132 visual & tactile objects of knowledge. The books were valued at 2% of the total, while the latter were valued at 27%. #BookHistory

I read about the test elsewhere cause the link gives me this. The set has 2,500 "hard, PhD-level questions", right? And that is meant to test reasoning? Please... First of all, 2500 questions to cover all of human knowledge is BS. Which kind of questions, from which disciplines? Plus human knowledge

The hosts of CodEX Machina invited me to talk about my crazy research. Curious about reading in New Spain? Literacy? Censorship? The Inquisition? I got you covered (also available in Apple and Pocket Casts). #BookHistory #NewSpain #Reading

Great idea for a #BookHistory drama that would never sell: on Nicolás Antonio's New Hispanic Library, his struggle to gather the info while almost bankrupt due to his book hoarding, the editions by Manuel Martí y Zaragoza & Francisco Pérez Bayer, how Pérez Bayer bitches about Martí y Zaragoza. FUN!

Has somebody done research on the affect of genAI use? From what I've seen: they are usually men who argue that "AI is not a problem but the user," and "you just need to get better at prompting." They get super snowflakey when they hear criticism of genAI cause "it can really help ppl." 🤔

🫠 "the community will come together to explore how Artificial Intelligence is transforming research management: from daily workflows to questions of equity, trust, & widening participation."
I recall the first meeting where concerns on climate & social justice were quickly brushed aside. #ResistAI
